February at Greenheart Bakery

As we move into February there are several things on the horizon that we would like to share with you:

--- FIRST: Our next Greenheart Dining Club event will be coming up on Saturday, Feb. 15th, 2014... and it will be a dinner, once again to be held at La Mariposa. If you were with us before, you know that the beautiful grounds, facilities, and patio areas of La Mariposa are spacious and comfortable.

For this next dinner coming up we are planning on featuring Chinese and Oriental specialties, both vegan and delicious. Although we are still finalizing details, here is a preview of what you may be enjoying:
Tasty Miso Soup
Homemade Spring Rolls w/ sauces
Soba Noodle entree
Herb spiced Brown Rice
Ginger and Radish Garnish
Hot Bancha tea or Herbal Iced Tea
plus a special Dessert
Please note: Fresh Coffee, as well as a selection of other Hot Teas will be available with Dessert

This is not an open event, and is by invitation only. The cost is $35 per person. If you have already been a Guest, or are currently on our mailing list then you should have already received your invitation via e-mail. Please respond as the seating is limited.

If you are not on any of our mailing lists, and would like to find out more about the February 15th Dinner, or receive an invitation, then please send us an e-mail with your inquiry.

SECOND: We have 3 special events that we will be participating in during the next month:

On Saturday, Feb. 22nd, we will have a vendor's booth at the annual Peace Fair held at Reid Park here in Tucson. We will be selling food specialties, as well as a full selection of our wonderful baked goods there. Please look for us!

On Saturday, March 1st, Alaine will lead a cooking class and demonstration at a private home down in Sierra Vista. The subject will be "Making a delicious Vegan Pizza". If you are interested in attending please call or send an e-mail to find out more. The class will be 3 hours long, there will be food, and the cost is $30 per person.

On Sunday, March 2nd, we will be setting up our regular vendor's booth at The Antique Fair, on the grounds of the Tanque Verde Elementary School out on the east side of Tucson. Normal hours are 8 am to 3 pm. We will be there with our usual food and baked goods selection. Stop by if you can!

THIRD: We have recently made a purchase of some wonderful 100% Organic full grain Blue Corn harvested from this year's crop in New Mexico. If you enjoyed the Blue Corn waffles at our recent Brunch, or have sampled some of our delicious Blueberry Blue Corn Muffins lately, then you know how tasty and nutritious blue corn can be. For anyone interested, we can sell you a 10 lb. bag of this same Blue Corn for $20.00 ( that's $2 a pound) --- in addition we may even grind it into flour for you for an extra charge.

We are also about to order our Organic Triticale as well, so please inquire about the price for that if you are interested. Triticale is a great grain to cook whole and eat; or makes a flavorful flour to bake with. We bake with Triticale and love it.

FOURTH: If you are planning on ordering something special for this year's Valentine's Day, please try to have about 5 days lead time when placing your request. Please call your order in to confirm current prices, as we are still experiencing difficulties with the PayPal Check Out System on our Bakery Store Page.

AND FINALLY: for some great reading on organic gardening, please check out the following LINK of a story that recently appeared in the NY Times:

Hope everyone is enjoy this great mid-Winter weather we are enjoying lately!!
