Menu for Sunday 11/14 Farmers Market

Dear Green Heart Friends,

Thank you - we had a wonderful weekend at Harlow Gardens Nov 6 & 7 (last weekend).  The following day was Ted's birthday and he decided he wanted to make the overnight trail ride to Grass Shack, on the back side of the Rincons.  We left Tuesday morning and returned this evening - that's why this menu is reaching you so late today (Wednesday). 

The photo above is Rincon Peak.  We made this ride last February but oh, how it had changed.  Look at all the grass!  What a difference the (big) monsoon season made!  We love the views of the Rincon Valley, and the biggest saguaros of all. We had perfect weather, and not TOO cold at night. Ted made us burritos on a tiny campfire that smelled of cedar.

For the menu this week, I wanted to avoid anything resembling Thanksgiving on the savory side, since next week's menu IS Thanksgiving.  That menu will come out Monday 11/15, and we plan to offer pretty much what we did last year, as it was very popular.

Please send in your order as soon as you can; for us, the sooner, the better :-) We usually ask you to have the order in by Thursday night, which gives you 24 hrs this week.

Green Heart MENU for Sunday 11/14

Mulligatawny Soup

A thick hearty soup of organic red lentils & organic sweet potatoes, with roasted organic garbanzos. Seasoned with fresh ginger & garlic & Indian spices. (GF, SF, oil-free, no onions) $7.00

Frozen:  we have 3 Split Pea.

Ted’s Bean Pizza

On our whole-wheat pizza crust, Ted layers sautéed carrots, zucchini, onions, on a tomato sauce base, and tops with a layer of black beans, and soy-free vegan mozzarella.  This is hearty, and we cut it in large squares.  (soy-free, oil-free) $11.

 

Thai Red Curry

This recipe is from the current issue of Forks Over Knives magazine.  I ordered 3 of the ingredients I didn’t have: galangal, ground lemon grass and ground kaffir lime leaf. *I will not be adding the dried red chilis* as we do not want “hot spicy”. In the curry will be bok choy, broccoli, asparagus, carrot, onion, garbanzos & zucchini. Served with brown jasmine rice. $11 (GF, soy-free, nut-free, oil-free)

Sandwiches

Millet Lentil Loaf: Our sprouted organic millet & lentil loaf, on Dave’s Bread, with our cashew cheez spread & ketchup. $8.50 (filling is GF, oil- free, SF)

*You may also order the Millet Lentil Loaf, no bread, as a small loaf. $12.

BBQ Jackfruit on a “Bun”: Jackfruit dry-sauteed and marinated in our house-made BBQ sauce, with our cashew cheez spread on an Ezekiel English muffin, masquerading as a healthy bun. $8.50 (GF, SF, no added oil) $9

Chickpea Mock “Tuna”:  8 oz container, or on Dave’s Killer Bread. This is very low fat, as we make the “mayo” (tofu, lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, Dijon, agave), and high in fiber and plant protein. $8. (filling is GF, oil-free)

Seitan Reuben:  house made seitan corned “beef”, sauerkraut, our house made cashew cheez, with our Russian dressing, on organic sprouted rye. $10

 

Healthy Desserts

 Chocolate Brown Cake: organic whole grain oat flour, organic cacao & frosted in our silken tofu-based chocolate frosting:  tofu, dark chocolate, maple syrup, vanilla. $7 per slice  (GF, nut-free, no oil)

Chocolate Cherry Truffles (raw, grain-free) :  pecans, dried cherries, dates, cacao nibs) $2/each or 3/$5

Pecan Tarts – same size as the fresh fruit tarts were. GF oat flour crust. $7

Pumpkin Mini-Pies:  in a GF oat crust, the pumpkin filling has a silken tofu base.  Perfectly sweetened and spiced. $6.50. (no added fat, not even in crust)

Organic Apple Hand Pies:  in an organic sprouted spelt crust. The apples are mildly sweetened w/agave. (soy-free, nut-free) $6.50

Alaine’s Rainforest Cake – a loaf made of Brazil nuts, dates, 2 kinds of dried apricots, pineapple, raisins, craisins, fresh orange zest, agave and brown rice flour. 

By the slice $4;  the 1 lb. loaf $22, or 2 lb loaf $35

Cranberry Bliss Bars (GF, oil-free) a bar made with organic whole grain oat flour, with a touch of orange zest, tart fresh cranberries & walnuts, sweetened w/coconut sugar & topped with vanilla cream cheez frosting (tofu-based) 4.50

Chispa Meal Bar: dates, almond butter, prunes, pineapple, cranberries, Turkish apricots, Blenheim apricots, almonds, walnuts, pecans, quinoa flour, brown rice flour, ginger pieces, cinnamon, orange zest, dark chocolate mini-chips, flax seeds, inulin, glucomannan powder, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, vanilla. 3 oz. This is designed to be a meal as it is very filling, as well as nourishing. $4.50

*Samoa Cookies* dipped in chocolate; healthy version of the Girl Scout cookies 3 small cookies in container (SF, GF, no nuts) $4.
