Menu for Sunday 4/10 Farmers Market 8 am - Noon (Summer Hours)

 



Dear Green Heart Friends,

Thank goodness racing season is over at the Rillito Track, and so the parking lot will return to its former accessibility.  No more long line of cars out on 1st waiting to turn in!  However, why we're already going to Summer Hours, I do not know, and we vendors have no say.

I hope you enjoyed the Roasted Veggie Sandwich last week if you ordered it.  We had so much yummy hummus on hand that Ted made, as well as pesto mayo and roasted vegetables that I know we got carried away making the sandwiches.  We sat down and ate half sandwiches at our break, and they were gooey and messy (but yummy).  Then I had another one Tuesday night that was in the fridge, and it was soggy :-(.  So maybe we blew it...let me know.  In the meantime, we'll have Hummus Veggie Slaw sandwiches this week.

We'll have the baked falafel (pictured above) on Farro Salad (cucumbers, tomatoes, kalamata olives) with Tzatziki dressing on the side.  When I eat the farro salad, I never want to stop; it's one of my favorites.

And the African Peanut Stew...although this picture doesn't show it on basmati and millet.  There's a bit of peanut butter in the vegetable broth it cooks in; it's not heavy on peanuts/peanut flavor.

Toasted Hazelnut Cacao Truffles - this tastes like the healthy version of Ferre Rocher candy.  Whatever Ted makes gets better and better :-)

We are still in need of cooking help on Saturdays.  If you know someone, ask them to contact me at my phone number or this email address. 

Looking ahead, the 17th is Easter, and we'll be there, and with Bunny Cakes, and jelly bean cupcakes.  The following Sunday (4/24) we will take off. And then back for May Day :-)

Corn Chowder

Ted will make his corn chowder with organic corn, roasted corn, potatoes, onions, peas, celery. (GF, SF, nut-free) $7.50

Frozen:  Southwest  Black Bean; Split Pea $7.

Baked Falafel w/Tzatziki Sauce

on Farro

Fresh cilantro and parsley season the chickpea-based falafel, with a cold dressing of coconut yogurt, cucumber & fresh dill, on top of a whole-grain farro salad (with roma tomatoes & fresh oregano).

(Soy-free, oil-free) $12.

African Peanut Stew

Sweet potatoes and red bells and kale cooked with a bit of peanut butter in vegetable broth, seasoned with fresh ginger, garlic and onions. Served with steamed millet & brown rice. (GF, soy-free, no oil) $11

 

Sandwiches

Hummus Veggie Slaw:  our hummus on Dave’s Bread, filled with a fresh slaw of purple cabbage, carrots & zucchini. (SF, no added oil, nut-free) $9

Organic Millet Lentil Loaf w/our cashew cheez:  on Dave’s Killer Bread, w/ketchup. Sprouted millet & green lentils cooked with onion, basil, thyme & oregano, to make a loaf that is sliced and put in the sandwich. (loaf & cashew cheez are GF, SF, oil-free. Dave’s Bread has gluten) $9.00 for the sandwich

You may also order just the Millet Lentil Loaf (no sandwich) as a 10 loaf for $12.

Seitan Reuben:  house made seitan corned “beef”, sauerkraut, our cashew cheez spread, with our Russian dressing, on organic sprouted rye. $10

Chocolate Cherry Cake by the slice:  organic oat flour, organic cacao, maple syrup & agave-sweetened.  (GF, no added oil) $7.50/slice

Cranberry Bliss Bars (GF, oil-free) a bar made with organic whole grain oat flour, with a touch of orange zest, tart fresh cranberries & walnuts, sweetened w/coconut sugar & topped with vanilla cream cheez frosting (tofu-based) 4.50

Chocolate Peppermint Cookies, 3 in a baggie, $4. (GF, SF). Made of almond flour. These are YUMMY! .

Meyer Lemon Bars:  set in an organic whole-grain oat flour crust, sweetened with organic birch (diabetic-friendly & low calorie). (GF, no added fat) $5

Magic Bars:  on top of an almond flour crust, layers of chopped dates, pecans, coconut set in coconut milk, and topped with chocolate chips.  (GF, SF, no added fat) $5.
