Menu for Rillito Farmers Market 5/29 Memorial Weekend, 8 am - Noon


Dear Green Heart Friends,

Valentine's, St. Patty's, Easter, Mother's Day, and now MEMORIAL DAY -- it seems these markers are flying by!

And a reminder:  we are planning SIX (6) more weekly menus, including this one, until the menus go on hiatus for a couple of months (July & August).  Some of you have thought that we are gone in June, but no :-). That means our last menu will be for Sunday, July 3rd.

As it is Memorial Day weekend, we shall have our BBQ Spare Ribs, baked beans & potato salad - always popular.

For a change, I brought out a recipe I used to make when I was still at St Phillips Plaza (!) because James, who now cooks with us, enjoys making Indian dishes, and will bring some of his own Indian spices to make it more special.  And on the side will be 2 sauces:  a cucumber raita, and a mint chutney (made with Ted's fresh garden mint).

Summer Vegetable Soup w/Brown Rice

Zucchini, snow peas, Napa cabbage, onions, organic basmati brown rice combine for  a hearty, but green and light soup, seasoned with Ted’s fresh garden herbs.  (GF, SF, oil-free, nut-free) $7.50

Frozen:  Roasted Corn Chowder, Spring Barley $7.

BBQ Ribs w/Boston Baked Beans & Potato Salad

House-made seitan spare “ribs” in our BBQ sauce, with potato salad (SF, oil in soy-free Vegenaise-based dressing on the potato salad) & Ted’s Boston Baked Beans $12

(Yes, you may order just the potato salad or baked beans)

Baked Samosa Casserole

Potatoes, spring peas, carrots, garbanzos with Indian spices, baked with a top crust (oat flour).  A coconut yogurt raita on the side, as well as a fresh mint chutney. (GF, SF, nut-free. Small amount of coconut oil in crust) $12



Seitan Reuben:  house made seitan corned “beef”, sauerkraut, our cashew cheez spread, with our Ukrainian dressing, on organic sprouted rye. $10

Chickpea Mock “Tuna”: 8 oz container, or on Dave’s Killer Bread. This is very low fat, as we make the “mayo” (tofu, lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, Dijon, agave), and high in fiber and plant protein. $8. (filling is GF, oil-free)

Millet Lentil Loaf: Our sprouted organic millet & lentil loaf, on Dave’s Bread, with our cashew cheez spread & ketchup. $9.00 (filling is GF, oil-free, SF)
*You may also order the Millet Lentil Loaf, no bread, as a small loaf. $12.


Healthy Desserts

Banana Chocolate Chip Cake by the slice:  organic oat flour, sweetened w/agave, silken tofu chocolate frosting.   (GF, no added oil, no nuts). $7.50


Organic Strawberry Shortcake: oat flour vanilla mini-bundts topped with sliced, slightly-sweetened strawberries. Topped w/our tofu-based “cream”.  $7.


Organic Blueberry Hand Pie w/organic spelt crust ( SF, no nuts) 7.00

Chocolate Cherry Parfaits:  bits of chocolate cake trim layered with organic cherries & our chocolate frosting. (GF, nut-free, no added fat) $5

Organic Raspberry Blueberry Tarts (GF) 7.00

Raw Truffles: Peanut w/cacao nibs  $2.50/each or 3/$6


Blueberry Blue Corn Muffins.  We’ll mill the organic NM blue corn we got and mix it with our oat flour. (GF, SF, no nuts or added oil) $4.50

Chocolate Glazed (baked) Donuts (GF, SF, oil-free, no nuts) 4.00

*Nutter Butter Cookies:  oat flour, maple syrup, peanut butter, vanilla.  These are shaped into “peanuts”, and filled with peanut butter & vegan cream cheez blended together.  2 filled cookies in a container $4.  (GF, no added oil)

Samoa Cookies, dipped in chocolate; healthy version of the Girl Scout cookies 3 small cookies in container (SF, GF, no nuts) $4.

Oatmeal Applesauce w/Chocolate Chip (SF, GF, no added fat, no nuts) 4.50
