Green Heart Menu for Rillito Park Farmers Market Sunday 6/5, 8 am - Noon

 



Dear Green Heart Friends,

Responding to requests, we have the "Thai-inspired Tempeh Salad" this week, which has a peanut lime sauce on the side.  Last time, I uncleverly "hid" the buckwheat soba noodles under the marinated & browned tempeh - but they were there!

As a reminder, we have 5 menus remaining (including this one) until the weekly menus go on hiatus for part of July and August.  (The last menu is for Sunday July 3rd.) Initially, I will go to Northern California and see my siblings and cousins and their children face to face for the first time since 2019.  We have to empty out the last storage unit since my mom's passing.....we were too sentimental at that time, and did not get rid of everything immediately.  Of course, we did not foresee the pandemic and 3 years of storage fees, with 2 rate increases - aargh!  (Our plan had been to reconvene in 6 mos. 😂)  With luck, I'll be back in 10 days or so and begin my Catch-up List.  I will still make special order cakes, and other special orders that come along.

Now that the snowbirds have flown home, our tally numbers are down (typical for the hot months).  If we don't receive enough orders for an item on the menu, it is possible that it will not be made.  I will do my best to give you some email notice if this is the case.  I do my best to intuit what will be popular but I'm not always correct.
 
 In case you didn't hear last Sunday, the Gila monster "fell" into our house when I opened the front door.  Unfortunately, there's no footage of me pushing him with a broom, and him whipping around when I touched his tail with it. I had to very slowly coax him only on his side with the broom (with Ted yelling instructions from outside in the courtyard, such as "hurry up!").  Since then, the cats sniff and sniff where he was, and raise their fur.

Southwest Black Bean Soup

Ted will make his delicious and popular black bean soup that he seasons with his epazote. Also, Mexican tarragon, roasted corn, red bells, some tomatoes. (GF, SF) $7.50

Frozen Soups: Summer Vegetable w/Brown Rice (snow peas, Napa cabbage, zucchini, parsnips) $7.

ThaiInspired Tempeh Salad

A rainbow of colors: shredded red cabbage, red bells, orange carrots “spiralized”, green spinach, green onions, with buckwheat soba noodles, and crispy tempeh bites, with a peanut-lime-tamari sauce/dressing. (organic ingredients! GF, SF, no added oil) $11.

Moroccan Chickpea-Potato Tagine

Yukon gold potatoes and chickpeas simmered with fresh ginger, garlic, onion, lemon zest, fresh tomato, and ras el hanout spice blend. Served over Herbed Couscous. ( soy-free, oil-free, no nuts) *Please specify if you’d like GF Basmati rice instead of couscous* ($11)

Sandwiches

Curried ChickUn Salad: 3 grain tempeh in a dressing of mayo and mango chutney, mixed with celery, raisins & roasted cashews. 8 oz container, or on Dave’s Killer Bread. $10.00 (filling is oil-free)

*New* Roasted Veggie Sandwich: zucchini, red bells, yellow squash, sweet onions all roasted. On toasted Dave’s bread with our pesto mayo and hummus. (SF, nut-free) $9.50

Seitan Reuben: house-made seitan corned “beef”, sauerkraut, house-made cashew cheez spread, with our Russian dressing, on organic sprouted rye. $10.

Healthy Desserts

Carrot Cake by the slice: organic oat flour, organic carrots, pineapple, raisins, pecans, agave-sweetened. (GF, no added oil) $7/slice

Strawberry Lime Macadamia Uncheesecake. Raw macadamia nut base on an almond & date crust. Lots of organic strawberries pureed, set off with fresh lime juice. T (GF, soy-free) $7/slice

Chocolate Raspberry Tarts (GF, no nuts) 7.50

Please specify if you’d like soy-free.

Chocolate Cherry Parfaits: bits of chocolate cake trim layered with organic cherries & our chocolate frosting. (GF, nut-free, no added fat) $5
