Green Heart Menu for Rillito Park Farmers Market Sunday Jan 8, 2023, 9 am - 1 pm

 

Dear Green Heart Friends,

Happy new year!  I know I wrote on December 14th that I would be gone from Rillito until 1/15, but EVERYTHING CHANGED.

Southwest Airlines had a meltdown, and canceled my flights to Northern California for New Year's.  As it turned out, it was good that I was here, as my Ragdoll cat, Elvis, stopped eating on the 27th and had to be euthanized on the 30th.

My sister scheduled her husband's memorial for Saturday, Jan 14th, so I will fly to Northern California for that, and NOT BE AT RILLITO on Sun Jan 15th.  I will be at Rillito this Sunday, Jan 8th, and then Sunday, Jan 21st (& onward).

Everything sounds so sad but we did have a great Christmas Day riding in Saguaro East in perfectly comfortable weather.  Here are the horses out of the trailer, about to be saddled:



​Our new horse, Billy, the Appaloosa, has put on weight and has become frisky & playful with the other horses.  Even Baloo, the Arabian, who has always been slender, has put on some weight with the hearty nightly mashes we give all the horses.
 
And we have years and years of memories of life with Elvis:

And now, (DRUM ROLL) on to the food!  I have persuaded Ted to make his thick & hearty Bean Pizza.


​This is not the best photo of it but it is the one I have.  Because... there is some soy-free mozzarella on top.  *Please note:  Ted has announced he will only make one pan of the pizza, as it will compete for his time and energy with the Black-Eyed Peas & Sausage that we always have for the new year.  That should be enough for everyone who would like to order...but just saying, in case I have to turn anyone down.
And the Wellington:



​This will be sliced and served with garlic mashed potatoes, and "creamed" spinach.  (You can sub roasted cauliflower steak for the Wellington on the plate if you choose.)

Please do your best to have your order in by Thursday evening.  If you are new and would like to order, please email back with your order.  It will be waiting for you Sunday am at Rillito Park Farmers Market.  You will pay for your order when you pick it up (not in advance).

We (Leila, Ted, James, Vanessa and I) thank you for your patronage.  (So do the horses - hay prices have gone up 🙄.)

Black-eyed Peas w/sausage and Corn Muffins

Ted is making his black-eyed peas for the new year, and adding veggies (zucchini, mushrooms, greens) and the vegan sausage that we make (pinto bean-based).  Our whole-grain corn muffins on the side. (GF, soy-free) $10

Frozen:  Southwest Black Bean – only 4 (GF, SF, oil-free) $7.

 

Ted’s Bean Pizza

On our organic spelt pizza crust, Ted layers sautéed carrots, zucchini, onions, on a tomato sauce base, and tops with a layer of black beans, and soy-free vegan mozzarella. This is hearty, and we cut it in large squares. (soy-free, oil-free) $12.

 

 

 

 

 “Beef” Wellington

Sliced & served w/garlic mashed potatoes & “creamed” spinach (almond milk base).  The loaf is comprised of chickpeas, mushrooms, walnuts, quinoa, minced onion, red bell peppers, and very generously seasoned & herbed.  The loaf is then baked in puff pastry (yes, think Pepperidge Farm!).  I ate this day after day during our break, often making it into a sandwich.

If you are gluten-free, you have the option of simply not eating the thin crust shell, OR we can sub Cauliflower Steak instead of the Wellington.

Sandwiches

Curried ChickUn Salad: 3 grain tempeh in a dressing of mayo and mango chutney, mixed with celery, raisins & roasted cashews. 8 oz container, or on Dave’s Killer Bread. $10.00 (filling is oil-free)

Seitan Reuben:  house made seitan corned “beef”, sauerkraut, our house made cashew cheez, with our Russian dressing, on organic sprouted rye. $11

 

Healthy Desserts

Chocolate Raspberry Cake by the slice:  organic oat flour, organic cacao, maple syrup & agave-sweetened.  (GF, no added oil) $7.50/slice

Roasted Hazelnut & Cacao  Truffles (date-sweetened) 2.50 each or 3/$6

Organic Apple Hand Pies:  in an organic sprouted spelt crust. The apples are mildly sweetened w/agave. (soy-free, nut-free) $7.50

Alaine’s Rainforest Cake– a loaf made of organic: Brazil nuts, dates,  apricots, pineapple, raisins, craisins, fresh orange zest, agave and brown rice flour. The dried fruit is unsulfured.

By the slice $4.50; the 1 lb. loaf $25, or 2 lb loaf $45

Breakfast

Blue Corn Mesquite WAFFLES: 2 waffles,4” x 4”, wrapped, and ready for you to reheat in your toaster. These are hearty and very filling. (GF, SF, no added fat) $6

Apricot Pecan  Scones w/TEFF flour. This time I will ADD teff flour, but not use it 100%; I will add it to the organic oat flour. (GF, SF) $4.50

Fresh Pear & Cranberry Upside Down Cake (GF, SF, no added fat, no nuts) $5/slice

Chocolate Zucchini Breakfast Muffin These also contain oat bran. Half as sweet as our brownies; half the amount of cacao. (GF, nut-free, oil-free) $4.50

Chocolate Glazed (baked) Donuts (GF, SF, oil-free, no nuts) 4.00

Pumpkin Pecan Loaf 10 oz, (GF, no added oil) $7.50

Banana Walnut Loaf 10 oz. ( GF, soy-free, no added oil) $7.50

Cookies & Bars

*Samoa Cookies* dipped in chocolate; healthy version of the Girl Scout cookies 3 small cookies in container (SF, GF, no nuts) $4.50

Magic Bars:  on top of an almond flour crust, layers of chopped dates, pecans, coconut set in coconut milk, and topped with chocolate chips.  (GF, SF, no added fat) $5.

Cranberry Macadamia White Chocolate Chip Cookies:  these are small, so 3 cookies in a clamshell (GF, soy-free) $4.50

Oatmeal Applesauce w/Chocolate Chip (SF, GF, no added fat, no nuts) 4.50
