Green Heart Menu for Rillito Park Farmers Market Sunday Feb 5, 8:30 am - 12:30 pm

 

Dear Green Heart Friends,

Ugh - the horse racing season begins at Rillito this weekend, and so the market hours move 1/2 hour earlier.  (We all know how I feel about horse racing :-(.  So, the earlier you come to the market, the easier it will be to find parking.  Should you encounter a parking attendant, be sure to say you are a farmers market customer, as you are to park for free (racing fans pay for parking).
 

Here's a photo of Baghdad & Morgan, 2 of our geldings.  Baghdad's birthday is Feb 6th; he'll be 25 years old.  He is an OTTB (off-track Thoroughbred) who was raced very young ( 2 - 3 yrs old), and he did not care for it.  At all. I brought him with me from California in 2011.

Mushroom Barley Soup

Ted will make Mushroom Barley Soup. (SF, oil-free, nut-free) $7.50

Frozen:  Zesty Harvest Vegetable (GF, SF, no nuts) $7

Roasted Garlic, Squash & Farro Stew

Organic butternut squash, delicata squash, turnips, butter beans, kale, farro, seasoned with fresh parsley, rosemary, thyme (no sage ;-) ( SF, no nuts)  $7.50

KALE & POTATO ENCHILADA CASSEROLE in GREEN TOMATILLO SAUCE

(NOT hot spicy)

 

Organic:  potatoes, kale, pinto beans, onions, spices, corn tortillas, green tomatillo sauce,_“cheez” sauce: rice milk, nutritional yeast, oat flour, spices. (SF, GF, no added oil, no nuts) Garnished with fresh lime slices and cilantro $13.

Thai Buddha Bowl w/Glazed Ginger BBQ Tofu

On a bed of tri-color quinoa:  sautéed green beans,  mushrooms, red onion, yellow bells in a veg broth-based sauce seasoned w/lime juice, fresh cilantro, and a touch of chipotle. Tofu sautéed in a fresh ginger/BBQ sauce glaze on top. For crunch, julienned Napa cabbage & dry roasted peanuts.  (GF) $13.

*Can be made without mushrooms*

Sandwiches

BBQ Jackfruit on a “Bun”: Jackfruit dry-sauteed and marinated in our house-made BBQ sauce, with our cashew cheez spread on an Ezekiel English muffin (acting as a healthy bun.) $10.00 (SF, no added oil)

Millet Lentil Loaf: sprouted organic millet & lentils cooked with onion & herbs, then sliced as a loaf. On Dave’s Killer Bread w/our house made cashew cheez and ketchup. (SF, no added fat) $10.

Seitan Reuben:  house made seitan corned “beef”, sauerkraut, our house made cashew cheez, with our Russian dressing, on organic sprouted rye. $11

 

Healthy Desserts

Organic Meyer Lemon Bars w/oat flour crust, sweetened with organic birch xylitol (GF, oil-free) $5

Raw Truffles: Almond Overjoy (almonds, dates, coconut) $2.50/each or 3/$6

Mounds Cake: triple coconut cake in our chocolate tofu frosting (GF, no added oil) $7/slice

Chocolate Raspberry Heart: our chocolate cake baked in a heart shape, split, filled with our vanilla frosting tinted pink w/raspberry glaze, topped with raspberry glaze, and trimmed in chocolate frosting. (GF, no added fat, no nuts) $7

Organic Berry Tart:  organic oat crust with our tofu-based filling, organic mixed berries, glazed in apricot jam (GF, nut-free) $7.50

Organic Apple Hand Pies:  in an organic sprouted spelt crust. The apples are mildly sweetened w/agave. (soy-free, nut-free) $7.50

Alaine’s Rainforest Cake– a loaf made of organic: Brazil nuts, dates,  apricots, pineapple, raisins, craisins, fresh orange zest, agave and brown rice flour. The dried fruit is unsulfured.

By the slice $4.50; the 1 lb. loaf $25, or 2 lb loaf $45

Breakfast

Banana Chocolate Chip Muffin (GF, no added oil, no nuts) $4.50

Orange Coconut Pineapple Streusel Coffee Cake (GF, SF, no added oil.  Streusel is dates, pecans, coconut shreds.). $5/slice

Blueberry Lemon Scone:  organic oat w/fresh lemon zest, blueberries.  Glazed w/birch sugar & lemon juice. (GF, SF, no nuts). $4.50

Blue Corn Mesquite WAFFLES: 2 waffles,4” x 4”, wrapped, and ready for you to reheat in your toaster. These are hearty and very filling. (GF, SF, no added fat) $6

Wendy’s Wonder Bars:  made of ripe banana, rolled oats, craisins & almonds – that’s it!  No added sweetener, and very nourishing and filling.  Courtesy of Ted’s sister, Wendy J  (GF, SF, no added fat) $4.50

Chocolate Glazed (baked) Donuts (GF, SF, oil-free, no nuts) 4.50

Cookies & Bars

Nutter Butter Cookies: oat flour, maple syrup, peanut butter, vanilla. These are shaped into “peanuts”, and filled with peanut butter blended with Better Than Cream Cheese – so they should be kept cold. They sell very well at Midtown Vegan Deli.  3 filled cookies in a container.  (GF, no added oil) $5.

*Samoa Cookies* dipped in chocolate; healthy version of the Girl Scout cookies 3 small cookies in container (SF, GF, no nuts) $4.50

Magic Bars:  on top of an almond flour crust, layers of chopped dates, pecans, coconut set in coconut milk, and topped with chocolate chips.  (GF, SF, no added fat) $5.

Oatmeal Applesauce w/Chocolate Chip (SF, GF, no added fat, no nuts) 4.50

Chocolate Chip Pecan (SF, GF) 4.50
