Menu for Rillito Park Farmers Market Sunday 3/12, 8:30 am - 12:30 pm

 

Dear Green Heart Friends,

Ted and I are on "foal watch", getting up 4x/night to check on Canela, our Morgan mare who has been "due" to foal for the past week.  We alternate between excitement and exhaustion, lol.  So what?  Canela herself is cranky & uncomfortable, so we are focusing on her well being.  We are grateful that the weather is perfect now for the birth, compared to the snow of last Thursday, the rain and mud before that, with the cold nights.  Now it's lovely going out at night, with all the horses bedded down in the moonlight.

For this Sunday, we will have our annual St Patrick's Day dish, Corned "Beef" & Cabbage.  (You don't have to wait until Friday, 3/17 to eat it; it's delicious any day :-)




For dessert, may I suggest Lemon Berry Cake?

Green Heart MENU for Sunday 3/12

@ Rillito Park Farmers market

As horse-racing season is still on, you will be happiest if you come by 10 am for parking.

 (Please have your order in by Thursday evening.)

“Cream” of Cauliflower Soup

Onions, potatoes, white wine, lots of cauliflower, sweet corn. (GF, SF, nut- free) $7.50

Frozen: Southwest Black Bean; Split Pea $7.

Seitan Corned “Beef” & Cabbage

The most tasty & popular seitan that I make (the red comes from pureed beets kneaded into the seitan dough).  Served with steamed organic green cabbage, carrots, red potatoes. Perfect for St. Patrick’s Day, or any day ( SF) $13.00.

*You may substitute 2 slices of Millet Lentil Loaf for GF (instead of the seitan)

Potato “Steaks” Almondine

Thick slices of Russet potatoes, steamed, then broiled w/tamari sauce. Served on a bed of cooked spinach & white beans, topped with sliced almonds sautéed in white wine and garlic. (GF, soy-free, dash of olive oil) $12

Nicoise Salad

Our chickpea mock “tuna” on organic greens, with steamed red potatoes, green beans, cherry tomatoes, artichoke heart, Kalamata olives. Our Ranch dressing on the side (because that’s more fun than vinaigrette ;-) (GF) $10.00

Sandwiches

Chickpea Mock “Tuna”:  8 oz container, or on Dave’s Killer Bread. This is very low fat, as we make the “mayo” (tofu, lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, Dijon, agave), and high in fiber and plant protein. $9. (filling is GF, oil-free)

Millet Lentil Loaf:  sprouted organic millet & lentils cooked with onion & herbs, then sliced as a loaf.  On Dave’s Killer Bread w/our house made cashew cheez and ketchup. $10.00 (soy-free, no added fat)

Yes, you can order your own small loaf $13. (The millet lentil loaf is gluten-free, SF, no oil, and nut-free.)

BBQ Jackfruit on a “Bun”: Jackfruit dry-sauteed and marinated in our house-made BBQ sauce, with our cashew cheez spread on an Ezekiel English muffin (acting as a healthy bun.) $10.00 (SF, no added oil)

 

Seitan Reuben:  house made seitan corned “beef”, sauerkraut, our cashew cheez spread, with our Russian dressing, on organic sprouted rye. $11

Lemon Berry Cake – organic oat flour, sweetened w/agave, vanilla frosting, with organic fresh berries (GF, nut-free, no oil) $7./slice

Pina Colada Uncheesecake – coconut added to the uncheesecake, and topped with pineapple glaze (GF, no added fat, no nuts) $7.
