Menu for Sunday, March 5th, 2023 Rillito Park Farmers Market

Dear Green Heart Friends,

Yes, last Sunday the parking was easy!  But that's because of the rain and cold! Brrrrr!  Keep your fingers crossed that the prediction for this Sunday holds: sunny, w/a high of 72 😎.  In the meantime, I guess we'll have SNOW tonight 😯.

Both a customer and Ted caught the story about erythritol, which you can read here:

At present, we are not using it in any of our recipes.  I have never liked it, and it was the main reason that I did not want to use Lily's chocolate chips, stevia-sweetened.  Because when I read the label (at New Life on Speedway, years ago, with Paula, the assistant manager), I saw the erythritol.  We both crinkled our noses and said no, thank you.

Years after that, several customers requested monkfruit, and brought me a small bag to see.  Again, I looked at the label and saw erythritol.  But, as that was what they requested, that's what I used in their custom batch.  (Odile, who worked the booth with me at Rillito, said she could eat the straight monkfruit, but not when it was blended with erythritol.  Straight monkfruit is expensive, but for herself, she was only buying a small amount, on occasion.) And, of course, while Connie worked with me, she used it because she was making keto cookies.  But no more.

Our Calzone:

This photo is not perfectly accurate; this was the spinach chorizo I used to make for the U of A.  PLEASE note the description on the menu:  "Italian".

This week, a regular customer wrote:

I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed the mushroom ragout. Of course, the black bean soup is always very good!  I had meant to mention that I really liked the salad nicoise a couple of weeks ago. That ranch dressing was wonderful!

It’s amazing how you come up with such a variety of delicious and healthy dishes.

Kathy

And that is exactly what we are striving for, week after week :-)

Thank you in advance for your order.  Please email your orders by Thursday evening.
