Easter Menu for Sunday 4/9 Rillito Park Farmers market SUMMER HOURS 8 am - Noon

 

Dear Green Heart Friends,

Racing is finished -- and so immediately, they put us on Summer Hours, 8 am - Noon. 

I admit that Easter has sneaked up on us!  Well, no wonder; we've interviewed and tried new "new" people, and we believe (hopefully) we have a new vegan helper that starts training tomorrow.  She cannot work many hours per week but it's a start!



Look at this old photo!  Doesn't matter; it's still valid :-).  On the menu you will see Meyer Lemon Berry Coconut Cake, Easter Bunny Carrot Cake, and Jelly Bean Carrot Cupcakes (fresh berries can sub for jelly beans).
Last year, Leila decorated the chocolate cake "eggs" below:


We will do something similar, although you won't see these listed on the menu.  Expect to see them Sunday.

And regarding our "fantasy foal" (as I refer to it):  Canela has had a 4th positive pregnancy test, and yes, she is big.  Ted checked his calendar from last year, and we now believe the lady with the stallion is incorrect on her dates.  Canela was actually with the stallion from March thru May 10, and so we now think she was just not as far along as we were told.  And thank you for asking...and sorry I gave the announcement too soon.  Like, way too soon :-(.

Corn Chowder

Ted will make his corn chowder with organic corn, roasted corn, potatoes, onions, peas, celery. (GF, SF, nut-free) $7.50

Frozen Soups:  Spring Barley (SF, no nuts, no added oil) $7.

 

Tomato & Asparagus Quiche

sun-dried tomatoes, organic asparagus, nutritional yeast, onion, in a sprouted organic tofu-based filling, topped with organic tomato & Violife mozzarella, in an organic spelt crust. Accompanied by red potatoes stuffed w/our hummus (vegan devilled “eggs”).

( filling is oil-free; crust is low oil) $12.00/slice (includes devilled “eggs”)

Whole 9” Quiche $35. With devilled “eggs” $40.

Soy-free Spinach & Mushroom Quiche

Organic spinach and mushrooms, nutritional yeast, onion, in a base of chickpea flour & plant milk, topped w/Violife cheez, in a whole-grain spelt crust. With our devilled “eggs” on the side!

( filling is oil-free; crust is low oil) $13.00 for 1/6 of 9” pie and devilled “eggs”

Whole 9” quiche $35; with devilled “eggs” $40

 

Gluten-free option: GF crust, OR no crust (for grain- free)$13/slice w/devilled “eggs”.

Baked Falafel w/Tzatziki Sauce on Farro

Fresh cilantro and parsley season the chickpea-based baked falafel, with a cold cucumber dressing w/coconut yogurt & fresh dill, on top of a whole-grain farro salad (with roma tomatoes & fresh oregano & cashew “feta”)

(Soy-free, oil-free) $13.

 

Sandwiches

Curried ChickUn Salad: 3 grain tempeh in a dressing of mayo and mango chutney, mixed with celery, carrots, raisins, walnuts & roasted cashews. 8 oz container, OR on Dave’s Killer Bread. $10.00 (filling is soy-free)

Seitan Reuben:  house-made seitan corned “beef”, sauerkraut, house-made cashew cheez spread, with our Russian dressing, on organic sprouted rye. $11.

Healthy Desserts

Meyer Lemon Berry Coconut Layer Cake – with fresh berries, as in the photo in the email. (GF, no added fat, no nuts) $7.50/slice

Jelly Bean Cupcakes – Carrot Cake frosted in vanilla tofu-based frosting, topped with vegan jelly beans & green “grass” coconut shreds. OR instead of jelly beans, fresh berries on top of the carrot cake cupcake.  $5.

Easter Bunny Cakes – 6-inch Carrot Cake $25.

Ted’s new truffle:  dates, ground almonds, craisins (raw) $2.50 each; 3/$6

Toasted Hazelnut Truffles $2.50/each; 3/$6

Chocolate Raspberry Tarts (GF, no nuts) 7.50
