Green Heart Menu for Sunday April 23rd, Rillito Park Farmers Market 8 am - Noon


Dear Green Heart Friends,

We are fulfilling several requests with this week's menu.  The Vegan Egg Salad was a hit, and so it's on the menu again this weekend.  Also, the Roasted Veggie Pesto Panini :-).

Moving along, the BBQ Spare Ribs were requested (with potato salad, and southwest black bean salad). This photo only shows the seitan "ribs":

​​Forbidden Rice Bowl:  the only thing is that this photo doesn't show the organic black rice that is under the vegetables.

​​Organic Stuffed Red Bell Peppers with Mexican Rice.  Our good cheez sauce (that was in the 7-Layer Dip) will be on the side, and on top, too.

*The important information for this Sunday is that I will leave earlier than I usually do, so that Ted and I can get to the memorial at La Mariposa for Richard Kowalcyk.  He and his wife, Marlyn, always attended the Green Heart Dining Club dinners (last held in 2014), and we spent many a pleasant Solstice gathering in their home.  I intend to actually begin breaking down at noon (instead of waiting until everyone finishes shopping at 12:30, or even later -- and my friend vendors are the biggest culprits -- which is always okay by me -- just not this Sunday).

Creamy Broccoli & White Bean Soup

Onions, garlic, white wine, lots of broccoli, and baby spinach, too, pureed with white cannellini beans (GF, SF, oil-free, nut-free)  $7.50

Frozen Soup:  Southwest Black Bean  $7.

Stuffed Red Bell Peppers

An organic red bell, filled with Mexican rice (pinto beans, onions, celery, cumin, chili powder, some tomato, organic brown basmati rice). One whole pepper (not cut in half) (GF, soy-free, no added fat) This time we will put the cheez sauce we had in the 7-Layer Dip on the side (cashew & coconut yogurt-based)  $12.


 BBQ Ribs w/Potato Salad

Our seitan spare “ribs” in our house made BBQ sauce, with both potato salad & our southwest black bean salad (soy-free; oil in soy-free Vegenaise-based dressing on the potato salad) $13


Forbidden Rice Bowl w/Pickled Cabbage

A creamy miso-ginger dressing on assorted organic veggies (including broccoli & cauliflower) and edamame, over black rice.  The pickled purple cabbage on top adds tangy flavor. This can be eaten hot or cold or room temp.

*New* Vegan “Egg” Salad:  in a base of potatoes (no soy), with seasonings including bread & butter pickles, dill, celery, mustard, black salt -  available in an 8 oz container (like the Mock Tuna), or on Dave’s Killer bread. $9.  (SF, no added fat, GF if no Dave’s Bread)

Roasted Veggie Pesto Panini: roasted eggplant, zucchini, yellow squash, red bells, in our oil-free pesto sauce, on Dave’s Bread. $10. (SF)

Also available: just the vegetables in our oil-free pesto


Seitan Reuben:  house-made seitan corned “beef”, sauerkraut, house-made cashew cheez spread, with our Russian dressing, on organic sprouted rye. $11.

Healthy Desserts

Triple Coconut “Mounds” Cake: our coconut cake frosted in our chocolate frosting (GF, no added fat or cane sugar;  frosting is soy-based) $7.00/slice

Organic sprouted spelt crust Apple Hand Pie  (SF, nut-free) 7.50 each

Organic Strawberry Rhubarb Mini-pies w/streusel top (pecans, coconut, dates, maple syrup) (GF, SF, oil-free) $7.


Truffles (raw) $2.50 each; 3/$6:  we have Chocolate Cherry, and also Ted’s new truffle which is WALNUTS, dates & craisins (not almonds as I wrote before :-(

Organic Fresh Berry Tart (GF, no nuts) 7.50

 Please specify if you’d like soy-free tart filling.

Alaine’s Rainforest Cake (SF, GF, no oil) 1 lb. $22., slice $4.50


Fresh Pineapple Streusel Coffee Cake: organic oat flour; streusel is made of pecans, dates, coconut, cinnamon & nutmeg (GF, SF, no added oil) $5
