Mother's Day Menu for Sunday May 15th at Rillito Park Farmers Market 8 am - Noon

 


Dear Green Heart Friends,

Yes, THIS Sunday is Mother's Day, and so you can order a small 6-inch, 2-layer cake (your choice of flavor - see menu) frosted and decorated as above.  There are also "individual" size choices with flowers :-)

By request, our Roasted Veggie Lasgna w/Pesto & Puttanesca Sauce is on the menu:



And repeating from last year are the Veggie Tarts w/Hollandaise Sauce on the side....I don't have a photo (I bet it's in James' phone, as he made those with me last year ;-).  Never mind; we got great feedback on them.
I've got the lentils sprouting for the Sprouted Lentil Salad, which I love for its crunchiness and how good I feel after I eat it:



That's the end of the photos....just to let you know, Green Heart bakery items are no longer in Midtown Vegan Deli (in case you swoop by there to pick something up).  Tanya has decided to hire an in-house baker to keep their case full. It has been my pleasure to support Tanya with her venture.  Ashley Welsh tells me it's Mariel of Tilted Halos, so that will result in sweets more in line with the food they're making.

And for us...we shall remain committed to healthy WFPB, and therefore, still out here "on the fringe" ;-) where we like it 💚

Mother’s day

 Summer Borscht w/Cucumber & Fresh Dill

Yes, beets pureed, cucumbers, fresh dill from our garden & with coconut yogurt. Very refreshing. (Cold soup!) (GF, SF, oil-free, nut-free) $7.50

 

Frozen Soup:  Southwest Black Bean  $7; Broccoli White Bean $7; Mushroom Barley $7

GF Roasted Veggie Lasagna w/Puttanesca Sauce

I’ve changed it up! I’ll make the lasagna as I used to make it for my extended family in California: no eggplant. The cashew cheez spread we make will be used throughout. Between the layers of Tinkyada organic brown rice lasagna noodles there will be roasted zucchini, sliced roasted red bells, spinach, broccoli, and a “ground beef” that we make out of lentils and beets. We will still incorporate our oil- free pesto. And Ted makes the puttanesca sauce, which is a marinara kicked up with capers, shallots, and minced Kalamata olives.

Topped with a small amount of soy-free mozzarella. (GF, soy-free, no added oil) $12.00.

 

Veggie Tarts w/Hollandaise

Oat & cornmeal crust, filled with zucchini, yellow squash, artichoke hearts, red onion, red bells, cherry tomatoes, all pan-sauteed in white wine, seasoned with fresh sage & other herbs.  Hollandaise (almond milk based) served on the side. Herbed quinoa, too. (GF, no added oil) $12.  

Sprouted Lentil & Cabbage Salad

Organic sprouted lentils, shredded red cabbage, green cabbage, mandarin oranges, craisins, in a dressing of rice vinegar, Bragg’s, shallots and maple syrup. (GF, SF, no oil). 12 oz. $10.00

Sandwiches

*New* Vegan “Egg” Salad:  in a base of potatoes (no soy), with seasonings including bread & butter pickles, dill, celery, mustard, black salt -  available in an 8 oz container (like the Mock Tuna), or on Dave’s Killer bread. $9.  (SF, no added fat, GF if no Dave’s Bread)

Roasted Veggie Pesto Panini: roasted eggplant, zucchini, yellow squash, red bells, in our oil-free pesto sauce, on Dave’s Bread. $10. (SF)

Also available: just the vegetables in our oil-free pesto

 

Seitan Reuben:  house-made seitan corned “beef”, sauerkraut, house-made cashew cheez spread, with our Russian dressing, on organic sprouted rye. $11.

Healthy Desserts

Organic Carrot Cake by the slice; this week no oat flour.  Instead, organic brown rice flour & teff. Then the usual carrots, pineapple, pecans & raisins. (GF, no added oil) $7.50/slice

Chocolate Mini-Bundt Cake with Raspberry and Chocolate Glaze:  this is our organic chocolate brownie cake, baked as a bundt, filled with raspberry glaze, over chocolate glaze (GF, no added fat, no nuts) $7.50.   W/fresh flowers on top for Mother’s Day

6-inch 2-layer Lemon Berry Cake “Happy Mother’s Day” on top w/fresh flowers (GF, oil-free, no nuts) $30.  Options:  Carrot Cake frosted in vanilla, OR Organic Chocolate frosted in Chocolate, or Vanilla

Meyer Lemon Blueberry Tart:  our lemon filling in our oat crust tart shell, topped with blueberry glaze & garnished with our vanilla frosting (GF, no added fat, no nuts) $7.50
